From playing solo cabarets, to multi-million dollar fundraisers, to international singing competitions, to auditions, David has worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway, toured internationally, and worked in Chicago with companies like The Goodman, Chicago Shakes, Steppenwolf, Porchlight Music Theatre, Marriott, Paramount and countless others. David has been providing music notation services for years, serving the theatre community with transpositions, transcriptions, arrangements and orchestrations, and offers a quick turnaround (based on availability), and free later transpositions on his work for life. David has directed over 50 full-length musicals, and music directed well over 100. As a musical theatre aficionado, he enjoys all genres of musical theatre, especially challenging and rarely-produced work. Among his many credits, he served as Director for the Virginia Premiere of Bright Lights, Big City, Assassins, Into the Woods, bare: A Pop Opera, the 2013 Northwestern University Songwriters Showcase at 54 Below in NYC, Porchlight Music Theatre's New Faces Sing Broadway: 1951, Columbia College Chicago's Hair, as well as countless shows for The Beautiful City Project, such as Bright Lights, Big City, Jesus Christ Superstar and We Will Rock You. As a Music Director, favorite projects include Saying Our Goodbyes: A William Finn Tribute, Fly By Night & Triangle (both with the American Musical Theatre Project), Danny and Sylvia (Off-Broadway), the National Tour of John Doyle's re-imagining of Sweeney Todd, as well as Porchlight's Gypsy (starring E. Faye Butler), Sunday in the Park With George: In Concert (starring Sean Alan Krill & Kathy Voytko) and Blues in the Night (starring Felicia P. Fields), for which he was awarded the Equity Jeff Award for Music Direction.
